The time of the researcher working on his own is a thing of the past. In order to optimize resources and give better visibility to its laboratories in France and abroad, EMNantes has adopted a strategy of partnerships. As well as the Joint Research Units (UMR) through which the School’s laboratories are associated with teh CNRS, the University of Nantes and Ecole Centrale de Nantes, and the joint project of the Computer science department with INRIA, EMNantes participates in a number of recently formed partnership structures: it is one of the founding members of the PRES Nantes Atlantique Universités, the regional higher education and reserch cluster, it is associated with 4 competitivity clusters and has had several projects accepted by the National Research Agency (ANR). Finally, with its GEM partners (Groupe des Ecoles des Mines) EMNantes has created a research institute which has obtained the prestigious “Carnot” label.
