Study path
The term option offers the choice between 2 main engineering fields:
1 - Systems Engineering in Computer Science, Information Systems and Production
2 - Environmental Systems Engineering, Energy, and Nuclear engineering
Altogether, 10 Options and 3 Masters programs are on offer.
Control Engineering and Industrial Information Technology
In this option, students learn the skills needed to develop and monitor automated systems. These skills include modeling and simulation to understand how the systems work; instrumentation and industrial information technology to collect, process and transmit information in real time; and lastly control engineering to design the systems. AII engineers have a global vision of systems and play a key role in all phases of project management, including design, development, implementation, installation and maintenance. Their work also involves taking into account all factors, including human factors.
GIPAD - Computer Science For Decision Support
Decision making processes in business are becoming increasingly complex. There is so much data involved and the human and financial issues are so important that information technology has become a strategic tool. Decision support systems that manage and report data are already common in business. Today powerful new analytical and optimization methods automatically extract knowledge from data. The GIPAD option trains engineers who can design and implement intelligent decision support systems, from data collection to the optimization of decisions.

Operations Management in Production and Logistics
This option has existed since the School was founded, and was originally focused on the optimization of production systems. The curriculum has evolved and now covers the entire supply chain, including sourcing, production and distribution. In all cases, the goal is to optimize complex flows of materials and information to achieve maximum quality of service at minimum cost and lead times. But some factors related to human and environmental issues are difficult to model and measure. Hence the main difficulty is often to find a trade-off between the mathematically optimized solutions and the ones that can be really applied.
Information and Communications Systems Engineering
Set up in 1998 at the time of the internet boom, the GSI option trains engineers able to build computing systems.To stay robust and agile, information systems, which are now an essential component of business strategy, must evolve and adapt. And to stay competitive, new products must embed high added value computing components. GSI engineers have expert skills in the concepts and technologies making it possible to meet these two challenges, offering global solutions that are safe, reliable, robust, innovative, easy to integrate and upgradable.

Organization and management of information technology
IThe integration of information and communication technology (ICT) into business has become an obvious necessity. But to truly take advantage of these new technologies, the changes they bring must be carefully managed. OMTI engineers have expertise in both organizations and managing IT-related projects. They understand business environments and operations, as well as the strategic and organizational challenges of ICT management Round Base Year 1
Quality and Reliability Engineering
The quality of a product or service is measured by its ability to satisfy a stated need. To achieve quality, businesses have to make sure that the solutions provided are appropriate and that the entire organization is working to improve quality. While quality used to simply consist of a final verification that a product met specifications, it is now a cross-functional issue involving all partners through to the end user. Since 1995, the QSF option has been training engineers capable of assisting businesses and consulting firms implement and improve quality systems, This includes designing management systems in an integrated context involving all types of risks (occupational, industrial, economic and environmental), setting up tools and methods for defining and designing products and quality assurance, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Environmental Engineering
In this option, students train to become engineers in a dynamic sector: the treatment of pollution (water, air, waste, noise) and environmental management (eco-assessment, eco-design). The GE option looks both at process engineering, involving the processes themselves, which help limit emissions by industry, and treatment processes, once pollution has occurred. It also involves environmental management, integrated systems (quality, safety, environment), sustainable development policies, environmental assessments and impact reports, as well as regulatory monitoring.
Energy Systems Engineering
Created in 1997, the GSE option offers exciting challenges and career opportunities due to increasingly strict environmental requirements (greenhouse gas reduction, etc.) and decreasing availability and rising costs of fossil fuels. Driven by the need for sustainable development there has been real scientific and technological progress even though it may seem too slow. Improvements are constantly being made, both as regards machine energy efficiency and the design and management of energy systems. The option trains engineers who can meet these challenges thanks to their ability to manage complex technical and financial projects, with a sustainable development approach.
Nuclear technologies, safety and environment
The principal mission of the NTSE option naturally consists in training engineers to work in the major corporations and institutions in the nuclear field. France, where electricity is largely produced in nuclear power stations, is active in all the phases of the fuel cycle and has a full range of facilities presenting various risks. The safety systems at these facilities must be designed according to the nature and magnitude of the hazards. But the option is not limited to the field of power production. It also covers other nuclear applications, including industrial and medical applications.
STAR -- Reactor Plant Design and Operation
The principal objective of the STAR option Systems and Technologies Applied to nuclear Reactors consists of training engineers to work in the nuclear industry in France and on the international stage (firms, safety authorities, independent experts). The option is focused on the nuclear reactors and covers: operation and maintenance of the current reactors, developing and installing third-generation reactors (EPR and other competitors), and design of the fourth-generation reactors.
he option offers a full range of highly skilled jobs, in the nuclear engineering industrial sector:
- plant operating engineer ;
- safety engineer ;
- control systems engineer ;
- R&D engineer ;
- reactor core performance engineer ;
- neutronics engineer ;
- design engineer ;
- modelling engineer (core neutronics, thermohydraulics systems).
This requires the joint teaching of a variety of disciplines with content that is both scientific and technological in the following fields:
- nuclear physics ;
- nuclear materials ;
- safety, control systems ;
- neutronics ;
- thermohydraulics ;
- human factors ;
- organizationnal reliability.
Sandwich Apprenticeship Engineering Program
