Through its many partnerships around the world the Ecole des Mines de Nantes offers a broad range of opportunities to students to acquire international experience. Here's how..
The internship abroad is the highlight of the 1st year of Graduate School. The internship must take place in a non-French speaking country. All Ecole des Mines de Nantes students gain at least 3 months professional experience in another country. Students learn to adapt to to working in a team with different language, culture and work practices.
A gap year usually between the two years of the Graduate School gives students an opportuniy to to step back, take stock and gain an additional year of maturity before moving on to the next year of their engineering studies. The gap year usually takes the form of an extended internship in a company.
During the 2nd year of Graduate School students in some options have the opportunity to extend their international experience with an original exercise: the PCI project in an international context. In tandem with students from the partner university, they have to solve a problem proposed by a company. During part of the first semester, they work via distance communication - e-mail, web conferencing etc., and then come together to finalize the project and make a joint presentation.
Students have the possibility of a credit transfert exchange year in the first Graduate School year . Students can choose from among the 40 partners of the school according to their study orientation and their future career project. The teaching staff at EMNantes verify the coherence of the chosen study plan with the requirements of the Ecole des Mines de Nantes and the host institution. The transfer of credits is not just a mechanical conversion of grades but takes into account the practices of each host institution and country.
The double degree is the highest form of partnership developed by the Ecole des Mines de Nantes. Double degrees have been set up with institutions who share the same values and obectives and whose curriculum is coherent with and complementary to the engineering program at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes. Students extend their studies by one or two semesters at the partner institution and thereby gain a second degree. Places are limited and selection is rigorous, both in terms of academic level and professional project.
Today, depending on the chosen field of study , the Ecole des Mines de Nantes offers a range of double degree opportunities: Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech in the United States, École Polytechnique de Montréal in Canada, Tec de Monterrey in Mexico Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Nanjing University of Science and Technology in China, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm in Sweden, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.in Spain, Technical University of Berlin, Germany …
The Ecole des Mines de Nantes is a truly international campus with more than one third of students coming from abroad.
