To say that this was a revelation would probably be excessive ... but maybe not! Julien was only 17 when he came to the Ecole des Mines attracted by energy and the environment. "I discovered an interest in computers, especially for decision support, an area combining the operational world and pure computing."
An internship at Maersk, a large Danish company, on optimizing the placement of containers on ships gave him the opportunity to be confronted with a combinatorial optimization problem and he saw this field as a possible future career direction. . He therefore chose the option GIPAD with the desire to move towards software engineering for decision support, and also the desire to become technically very strong in this area to be able to propose the best solutions. "In addition to my engineering course last year, I also took the SAD Master course at the University of Nantes and discovered the world of research."
It was certainly an investment in the future that Julien does not regret: he found his voaction. With his engineering degree and master's degree, he continued with a PhD within the "constraints" team of the Computer science department of Ecole des Mines de Nantes with the aim of joining an optimization laboratory in industry .... in France or abroad " where Doctoral degrees are appreciated!"
Since late 2010, hehas been working for Eurodecision on a project in the operational research department of Air France. "I'm an optimization engineer on issues of revenue management (optimization of income per cabin by opening and closing booking classes) and aircrew planning (business and technical). "
