With about 10,000 theses per year for only 2500 positions in academic research, the job market is for PhD graduates is evolving. More and more opportunities are to be found in companies;
For this reason the objectives of doctoral training at the Ecole des Mines de Nantes are to accompany students in defining their career project during their thesis so that they can envisage integrating either the corporate world , or a research organization, according to their professional goal.
Doctoral training at EMNantes has two guiding principles :
- the thesis must be an innovative project with key objectives, funded over 3 years, in a complex environment,
- the student must be a responsible professional, recruited according to specific skills criteria at the time of the thesis definition. Supervision is constant throughout the thesis.
Target positions :
- Research engineer ,
- R & D manager in a company,
- Manager of complex and innovative projects,
- Faculty position in higher education as a researcher
The PhD student will be able to progress to positions of responsibility in a wide variety of corporate situations , such as marketing, project management , or as director of research.
